University at Buffalo: Landscapes of Portugal

This tiny country between Spain and the sea, known for its traditional agriculture, fishing communities, cosmopolitan bustling cities, and jet-setting coastal resorts, offers a variety of experiences of the senses. We will spend an evening listening to the husky beautiful music of “fado” while sipping port; a day exploring Portugal’s most spectacular religious sanctuary, “Bom Jesus do Monte” with its 18th-century giant baroque stairway; and a night at Pousada Serra da Estrela where a log fire and stunning views over the snow-capped mountains greet us.
From Lisbon to Oporto, Oliveira, and Evora, architectural, historical, and cultural treasures await us on this unforgettable sojourn into the very heart and soul of ancient Portugal.
Colgate University: The Land of Fire & Ice

Colgate University is pleased to offer an exciting journey to the Land of Fire & Ice.
On this exciting getaway, you will experience the best of city life and the countryside. We will start in the capital city, Reykjavik, to sample the city’s vibrant culture and learn about the region’s Viking heritage. We then travel north, up the west coast, to spend two nights in the Icelandic countryside. Characterized by extinct (and sometimes active!) volcanoes and cascading waterfalls nearly everywhere you turn, the geological forces that created this extraordinary island are dramatically on display
