July 8 - 17, 2025 | Maximum Group Size: 25 Participants | Availability: LIMITED

Fountain in the gardens of the Versailles Palace

Not for nothing is the Loire Valley known as the “Garden of France!” Running from East to West, the valley funnels the warm, moist winds off the Atlantic into the heart of the region, providing a perfect microclimate for growing everything from flowers to fruit—especially the ubiquitous grapes.

And, of course, it is no coincidence that the wealthy nobility of the renaissance chose the region to build their fabulous palaces, away from the “ripe” odors of the city! The sumptuous chateaux that dot the landscape give the whole area a fairytale aspect.

Following the example of these aristocrats, we will avoid the city and make our first base in the town of Versailles. We’ll rest here from our flights and experience the majesty of the Palace with a local guide who takes us through its extravagant rooms and glorious gardens.

Continuing on to the Loire Valley, with a stop to explore the mysteries of Chartres, we’ll sample a selection of stunning medieval and Renaissance chateaux, scattered around the countryside. From the romance of Chenonceau, arching across the Cher River, to the staggering grandeur of Chambord, a Renaissance masterpiece, and all of their many intricate gardens, here is an experience of magnificence that reveals itself day after day.

Join Marian St. Clair, as she teams up with Discover Europe once again this summer, to take you on an unforgettable journey through lush landscapes and history to experience the Chateaux & Gardens of the Loire Valley
